11.43

漳州浮石和尚上堂云。山僧開卜鋪。能斷人貧富定人生死。時有僧出云。離却生死貧富。不落五行請師直道。師云。金木水火土。

Upādhyāya Fushi of Zhangzhou ascended the hall and said, "This mountain monk runs a divination shop: I can judge whether people will be poor or rich, and determine whether they will live or die." At the time a monk came forward and said, "Leaving aside life and death, poverty and wealth, and not falling into the five phases, please, Master, speak directly." The Master said, "Metal, wood, water, fire, earth."
