15.24

涿州杏山鑒洪禪師。臨濟問。如何是露地白牛。師曰吽。濟曰。啞却杏山口。師曰。老兄作麼生。濟曰。遮畜生。師乃休（與石室問答。如彼章出之）師五詠十秀皆暢玄風。滅後茶毘收五色舍利。

Chan Master Jianhong of Xingshan in Zhuozhou. Linji asked, "What is the white ox on open ground?" The Master said, "Hōng." Linji said, "The mouth of Xingshan is struck dumb!" The Master said, "What about the elder brother?" Linji said, "This beast!" The Master then desisted. (The questions and answers with Shishi are found in his chapter.) The Master's "Five Chants" and "Ten Excellences" all gave vent to the profound tradition. After his passing, he was cremated and five-coloured relics were collected.
