潭州雲蓋山志罕禪師。僧問。如何是嶽頂浪滔天。師曰。文殊正作鬧。曰正作鬧時如何。曰。不向機前展大悲。

Chan Master Zhihan of Mount Yugai in Tanzhou. A monk asked, "What are billows surging to heaven on the mountain peak?" The Master said, "Mañjuśrī is just making a racket." The monk said, "What about when he is just making a racket?" The Master said, "He does not unfold great compassion before the dynamic moment."
