20.10

歙州朱谿謙禪師。饒州刺史與師造大藏殿。師與一僧同看殿次。師喚某甲。僧應諾。師曰。此殿著得多少佛。曰著即不無有人不肯。師曰。我不問遮箇人。曰恁麼即某甲亦未曾秖對。珍重。師後住兜率山而終。

Chan Master Zhuxi Qian of Shezhou. The prefect of Raozhou built a Great Canon Hall for the master. While the master and a monk were inspecting the hall together, the master called out, "So-and-so!" The monk responded. The master said, "How many Buddhas can this hall accommodate?" [The monk] said, "As for accommodating them, it does not lack room, but someone does not agree." The master said, "I am not asking about that person." [The monk] said, "If so, then I have never responded either. Take care!" Later, the master resided at Mount Tuṣita and passed away there.
