20.8

池州廣濟和尚。問匹馬單槍時如何。師曰。頭落也。問如何是方外之譚。師曰。汝道什麼問如何是廣濟水。師曰。無饑渴。曰恁麼即學人不虛設也。師曰。情知爾受人安排。問遠遠來投乞師指示。師曰。有口只解喫飯。問溫伯雪與仲尼相見時如何。師曰。此間無恁麼人。問不識不見請師道出。師曰。不昧。曰不昧時作麼生。師曰。汝喚作什麼。

Upādhyāya Guangji of Chizhou. A monk asked, "How is it with a single horse and a solitary spear?" The master said, "The head has fallen." [A monk] asked, "What is discourse beyond the worldly realm?" The master said, "What are you saying?" [A monk] asked, "What is the water of Guangji?" The master said, "Neither hunger nor thirst." [The monk] said, "If so, then the student has not come in vain." The master said, "I knew all along that you would accept another's arrangement." [A monk] asked, "Having come from afar to take refuge, I beg the master for instruction." The master said, "Having a mouth, I only know how to eat rice." [A monk] asked, "How was it when Wenbo Xuezi and Zhongni met each other?" The master said, "There is no such person here." [A monk] asked, "Neither knowing nor seeing; please, Master, speak it out." The master said, "Not dimmed." [The monk] said, "When it is not dimmed, what is it like?" The master said, "What do you call it?"
