興元府大浪和尚。僧問。既是喝河神。為什麼却被水推却。師曰。隨流始得妙倚岸却成迷。
Upādhyāya Dalang of Xingyuan Prefecture. A monk asked, 'Since it is the river-scolding spirit, why is it pushed back by the water?' The master said, 'Only by following the current does one attain the wondrous; clinging to the bank, one turns into confusion.'
