紫陵微禪師（第二世住）僧問。如何是紫陵境。師曰。寂照燈光夜已深。曰如何是境中人。師曰。猿啼虎嘯。問寶劍未出匣時如何。師曰。磐陀石上栽上柏。

Chan Master Wei of Ziling (dwelling as the second generation). A monk asked, 'What is the realm of Ziling?' The master said, 'Lamp light silently illuminates as the night deepens.' [The monk] said, 'What is the person within the realm?' The master said, 'Apes cry and tigers roar.' [The monk] asked, 'How is it before the precious sword is drawn from its scabbard?' The master said, 'Planting an evergreen cypress upon a flat-topped boulder.'
