23.18

潮南永安朗禪師。僧問。如何是洞陽家風。師曰。入門便見。曰如何是入門便見。師曰。客是相師。問如何是至極之譚。師曰。愛別離苦。

Chan Master Lang of Yong’an in Chaonan. A monk asked, “What is the house style of Dongyang?”
The master said, “Enter the gate and you will immediately see.”
[The monk] said, “What is entering the gate and immediately seeing?”
The master said, “The guest is a physiognomist.”
[A monk] asked, “What is the supreme discourse?”
The master said, “The suffering of parting from those one loves.”
