23.41

池州和龍和尚。僧問。如何是祖祖相傳底心。師曰。再三囑爾。問如何是從上宗旨。師曰。向闍梨口裏著到得麼問省要處乞師一接。師曰。甚是省要。

Upādhyāya Helong of Chizhou. A monk asked, 'What is the mind transmitted from ancestor to ancestor?' The master said, 'I enjoin you again and again.' He asked, 'What is the lineage teaching from above?' The master said, 'Can it reach into your mouth, ācārya?' He asked, 'At the essential point, I beg the master to receive me.' The master said, 'It is exceedingly essential.'
