23.62

湖南瀏陽道吾山從盛禪師。師初住高安龍迴。有僧問。如何是覿面事。師曰。新羅國去也。問如何是龍迴家風。師曰。縱橫射直。問如何是靈源。師曰。嫌什麼。曰近者如何。師曰。如人飲水。問窮子投師乞師拯濟。師曰。莫是屈著汝麼。曰爭奈窮何。師曰。大有人見。

Chan Master Congsheng of Mount Daowu in Liuyang, Hunan, initially resided at Longhui in Gao'an. A monk asked, "What is the face-to-face matter?" The Master said, "Gone to Silla!" [A monk] asked, "What is the Longhui house style?" The Master said, "Shooting straight in all directions." [A monk] asked, "What is the spiritual source?" The Master said, "What do you dislike?" The monk said, "What about one who is close to it?" The Master said, "Like a person drinking water." [A monk] asked, "A destitute son turns to the master, begging the master to save him." The Master said, "Could it be that you have been wronged?" The monk said, "What can be done about poverty?" The Master said, "Plenty of people see it."
