23.88

潭州雲蓋山證覺禪師。僧問。如何是和尚家風。師曰。四海不曾通。問如何是一塵含法界。師曰。通身體不圓。曰如何是九世剎那分。師曰。繁興不布彩。問如何是宗門中的的意。師曰。萬里胡僧不入波瀾。

Chan Master Zhengjue of Mount Yunggai in Tanzhou. A monk asked, “What is the Upādhyāya’s house style?” The Master said, “The four seas have never communicated.” The monk asked, “What is a single dust mote containing the Dharma realm?” The Master said, “Throughout the body, the substance is not round.” The monk asked, “What is the nine times separated in a single kṣaṇa?” The Master said, “Flourishing, it does not display colors.” The monk asked, “What is the exact meaning in the ancestral school?” The Master said, “A foreign monk from ten thousand miles away does not enter the waves.”
