26.101

明州崇福院慶祥禪師上堂曰。諸禪德見性周遍聞性亦然。洞徹十方無內無外。所以古人道。隨緣無作動寂常真。如此施為全真智用。問如何是本來人。師曰。堂堂六尺甚分明。曰只如本來人還作如此相貌也無。師曰。汝喚什麼作本來人。曰乞師方便。師曰。教誰方便。

Chan Master Qingxiang of Chongfu Cloister in Mingzhou ascended the hall and said, "All Chan worthies: the nature of seeing is all-pervading, and so is the nature of hearing. Penetrating the ten directions, it has no inside and no outside. Therefore the ancients said, 'Following conditions without making anything, movement and stillness are always true.' Conducting oneself in this way is entirely the function of true wisdom." [A monk] asked, "What is the original person?" The Master said, "A grand six feet tall, very distinct." [The monk] said, "Just as with the original person, does he also have such an appearance or not?" The Master said, "What do you call the original person?" [The monk] said, "I beg the Master for skillful means." The Master said, "Whom would you have [me] use skillful means on?"
