李翱尚書見老宿獨坐問曰。端居丈室當何所務。老宿曰。法身凝寂無去無來（法眼別云。汝作什麼來。法燈別云。非公境界）。

Minister Li Ao saw a senior master sitting alone and asked, "Sitting upright in the abbot's room, what should your task be?" The senior master said, "The Dharmakāya is concentrated and tranquil; it neither goes nor comes." (Fayan gave an alternative: "What have you come to do?" Fadeng gave an alternative: "It is not your realm, sir.")
