泗州塔前一僧禮拜。有人問。上座日日禮拜還見大聖麼（法眼代云。汝道禮拜是什麼義）。

Before the Sizhou Stūpa, a monk was bowing. Someone asked, "Does the sthavira, bowing day after day, still see the Great Sage?" (Fayan spoke in his place: "Tell me, what is the meaning of bowing?")
