Chan Master Changguan of Wufeng in Junzhou: A monk asked, "What is the realm of Wufeng?" The master said, "Perilous." The monk said, "Who is the person within the realm?" The master said, "Blocked." A monk took his leave of the master, and the master said, "Where are you going, ācārya?" The monk said, "I am going to Mount Tai." The master held up one finger and said, "Once you have seen Mañjuśrī, come back here and see me." The monk had no reply. The master asked a monk, "Do you see the ox?" The monk said, "I see it." The master said, "Do you see the left horn, or do you see the right horn?" The monk had no reply. The master answered for him, "Seeing has neither left nor right." (Yangshan commented separately, "Do you still distinguish left from right?") There was another monk taking leave of the master, and the master said, "When you go to various places, do not slander this old monk here." The monk said, "I will not say the upādhyāya is here." The master said, "Where do you say this old monk is?" The monk held up one finger. The master said, "Already you slander this old monk."
