長安福應文禪師上堂。明明百草頭。明明祖師意。直下便承當。錯認弓為矢。惺惺底築著磕著。懵懂底和泥合水。龜毛拂逼塞虛空。兔角杖撑天拄地。日射珊瑚林。知心能幾幾。擊禪床下座。

Chan Master Wen of Fuying in Chang'an ascended the hall: 'Clearly at the tip of the hundred grasses; clearly the intention of the Ancestral Master. Taking it up directly on the spot, one mistakenly takes the bow for an arrow. The alert ones bump and knock against it; the muddleheaded ones mix with mud and water. The turtle-hair whisk chokes empty space; the rabbit-horn staff props up heaven and leans against earth. The sun shines on the coral forest; how many are those who know my heart?' He struck the meditation bench and stepped down from the seat.
