11.14

安州大安興教慧憲禪師上堂。我有一條拄杖。尋常將何比況。採來不在南山。亦非崑崙西嶂。拈起滿目光生。放下驪龍縮項。同徒若也借看。卓出人中之上。擊香臺下座。

Chan Master Huixian of Xingjiao at Da'an in Anzhou ascended the hall: "I have a staff. To what can it usually be compared? Cut down, it came not from the Southern Mountains, nor from the western ridges of Kunlun. When lifted up, radiant light fills the eyes; when set down, the black dragon shrinks its neck. If fellow travelers would borrow a look, it towers high above ordinary men." Striking the incense stand, he stepped down from the seat.
