13.21

閬州光國文贊禪師。僧問。如何是佛法大意。師曰。禍不單行。又問。諸法寂滅相不可以言宣。猊座既登師如何說。師曰。因風吹火用力不多。僧云。恁麼則佛佛道同。師曰。猫兒帶紙帽。問不二之法請師速道。師曰領。僧云。恁麼則人人有分也。師曰了。僧云。錦屏天下少光國世間稀。師曰退。

Chan Master Guangguo Wenzan of Langzhou. A monk asked, 'What is the great meaning of the Buddha Dharma?' The master said, 'Misfortunes never come singly.' He also asked, 'The sign of the tranquil extinction of all phenomena cannot be expressed in words. Having ascended the lion seat, how does the master speak of it?' The master said, 'Blowing on a fire by taking advantage of the wind does not expend much effort.' The monk said, 'If so, then Buddha and Buddha share the same path.' The master said, 'A cat wearing a paper hat.' He was asked, 'Please speak quickly of the non-dual Dharma.' The master said, 'Understood.' The monk said, 'If so, then everyone has a share.' The master said, 'Finished.' The monk said, 'Jinping is rare under heaven; Guangguo is scarce in the world.' The master said, 'Withdraw.'
