13.51

臨江軍慧力善周禪師上堂曰。遼天鶻萬里雲。秖一突是什麼。喝一喝。師於元祐元年十二月望日沐浴淨髮說偈曰。山僧住瑞筠。未嘗形言句。七十三年來。七十三年去。言畢趺坐而逝。三日後鬚髮再生。

Chan Master Shanzhou of Huili in the military prefecture of Linjiang ascended the hall and said, "A falcon soaring in the distant sky; clouds of ten thousand li. Just one sudden burst—what is it?" He gave a shout.

On the fifteenth day of the twelfth month in the first year of the Yuanyou era, the master bathed, shaved his hair, and spoke a gāthā, saying: / 'The mountain monk dwelt at Ruiyun, / And never gave form to spoken phrases. / Coming for seventy-three years, / Departing for seventy-three years.' / Having finished speaking, he sat cross-legged and passed away. Three days later, his beard and hair grew anew.
