Chan Master Zhixing of Yanfu in Anzhou was a native of Xichuan. After leaving home and receiving the full precepts, he went directly to the Dharma seat of Chan Master Yuquan Fang and clarified the ground of his mind. He first resided at Jianyuan, then moved to Longhua in Huangmei, and in his later years resided at Yanfu. The master did not speak of the mysterious in his words; his conduct was not refined or pure; his demeanor did not observe etiquette; and the assembly took no pleasure in seeing him. After his passing, his spiritual anomalies were unfathomable and their responses were like echoes. Monastics and laity looked back with reverence, and his preserved body was sculpted and adorned; prayers offered to it were especially fervent.
