16.18

洪州興化法澄禪師上堂曰。雲籠碧嶂雨灑長空。百草鬪青千山競翠。遮那境界花藏門開。處處善財重重彌勒。交參主伴更互敷揚。大悲無窮度生不倦。大眾還見彌勒麼。良久曰。長憶江南三月裏。鷓鴣啼處百花香。

Chan Master Facheng of Xinghua in Hongzhou ascended the hall and said, 'Clouds encircle the green precipices; rain sprinkles the broad sky. The hundred grasses vie in greenness; the thousand mountains compete in verdure. The realm of Vairocana: the flower-store gate opens. Everywhere is Sudhana, tier upon tier of Maitreya. Host and companion interweave, preaching in mutual alternation. Great compassion is inexhaustible; saving sentient beings is never tiring. Assembly! Do you still see Maitreya?' After a long pause, he said, 'I long remember the third month in Jiangnan, / Where the partridge cries and the hundred flowers are fragrant.'
