台州天封子歸禪師上堂。卓拄杖一下。召大眾曰。八萬四千法門八字打開了也。見得麼。金鳳夜栖無影樹。峯巒纔露海雲遮。

Chan Master Zigui of Tianfeng in Taizhou ascended the hall. He struck the staff once, addressed the assembly, and said: "The eighty-four thousand Dharma doors are thrown wide open like the character ba (八). Do you see? / A golden phoenix roosts at night in a shadowless tree; / Just as the mountain peaks emerge, ocean clouds conceal them."
