瑞州洞山至乾禪師上堂。洞山不會談。禪不會說道。秖是饑來喫飯困來打睡。爾諸人必然別有長處。試出來盡力道一句看。有麼有麼。良久曰。陸州道底。

Chan Master Zhigan of Dongshan in Ruizhou ascended the hall: "Dongshan does not know how to talk about Chan; he does not know how to speak of the Dao. He simply eats rice when hungry and goes to sleep when tired. All of you must certainly have another forte; come forward and try to say a phrase with all your strength for us to see. Is there anyone? Is there anyone?" After a long pause, he said, "What the prefect of Luzhou said."
