22.39

瑞州黃檗道全禪師上堂。以拂子擊禪床曰。一槌打透無盡藏。一切珍寶吾皆有。拈來普濟貧乏人。免使波吒路邊走。遂喝曰。誰是貧乏者。

Chan Master Daoquan of Huangbo in Ruizhou ascended the hall. Striking the meditation couch with his whisk, he said: "A single hammer blows through the inexhaustible treasury; / All precious jewels I possess. / Bringing them out to universally aid the impoverished, / I spare them from running in distress along the roadside." He then shouted and said, "Who is the impoverished one?"
