Head Monk Qimi of Yangzhou was a native of that prefecture. Sixin praised him as one who had thoroughly practiced. Various literati repeatedly invited him to famous mountains, but he would not go. Later, when he manifested transformation at Gushan in Tan[zhou], his extraordinary traces were quite numerous. A disciple once painted his portrait and asked for an eulogy. He wrote for him: / "This fellow with ash on his head and dirt on his face, / Usually does not wish to reveal himself. / Now painted before others, / He is very much like an arrow stuck in empty space. / How lamentable! How lamentable! / What a pity for three feet of worldly silk!"
