24.19

台州國清愚谷妙印禪師上堂。滿口道得底。為甚麼不知有。十方知有底。為甚麼滿口道不得。且道誵訛在甚麼處。若也知得許爾照用同時明闇俱了。其或未然。道得道不得知有不知有。南山石大虫解作師子吼。

Chan Master Yugu Miaoyin of Guoqing in Taizhou ascended the hall and said, 'Why does one whose mouth is full of explanations not know that it exists? Why can one in the ten directions who knows that it exists not explain it with a mouthful of words? And tell me, where is the discrepancy? If you understand this, I acknowledge that your illumination and function are simultaneous, light and dark both completely clear. But if you have not, whether it can be spoken or cannot be spoken, whether knowing it exists or not knowing it exists—the stone tiger of South Mountain knows how to roar like a lion.'
