Chan Master Beishan Fatong of Zhenzhou ascended the hall and said, 'Why can the one who swallows all the three times not open his mouth? Why can the one who illuminates through the four continents not open his eyes? How can one attain thorough and unimpeded penetration? The golden needle with double locks fully provided; leaves and dew concealed, all included.' A monk asked, 'Please give instruction on the place where words are cut off and thought is extinguished.' The master said, 'Not a drop of water enters stone.'
