24.45

真州長蘆琳禪師。上堂拈拄杖曰。其宗也離心意識。其旨也超去來今。離心意識故。品萬類不見差殊。超去來今故。盡十方更無滲漏。當頭不犯徹底無依。悟向朕兆未生已前。用在功勳不犯之處。平常活計不用躊躇。擬議之間即沒交涉。

Chan Master Changlu Lin of Zhenzhou ascended the hall, held up his staff, and said, 'Its lineage leaves behind mind, consciousness, and intellection; its purport transcends past, future, and present. Because it leaves behind mind, consciousness, and intellection, when sorting the myriad kinds, no differentiation is seen. Because it transcends past, future, and present, throughout the ten directions there is no further leakage. Meeting it directly, do not violate it; thoroughly, there is nothing to rely on. Awaken toward before omens have arisen; function in the place where meritorious practice does not intrude. In ordinary livelihood, there is no need to hesitate; in the twinkling of deliberation, there is already no connection.'
