27.11

院是大宋國裏院。州是大宋國裏州。州中有院不容住。何妨一鉢五湖游。師舉了曰。是則是去住自由。忒殺露風骨。因作頌曰。休休休夕陽西去水東流。惟有仰山雲勢遠。摶風千萬過南州。後住台州護國示寂于木山。

'The monastery is a monastery in the Great Song empire; the prefecture is a prefecture in the Great Song empire. In the prefecture there is a monastery that does not allow me to stay; why not take a single bowl and roam the five lakes?' Having cited it, the master said: 'Be that as it may, leaving or staying is at one's own discretion, but this reveals one's character far too much.' Thereupon he composed a verse, saying: / 'Stop, stop, stop! The evening sun goes west, the water flows east. / Only the cloud formations on Mount Yang stretch far, / Riding the whirlwind tens of thousands of times to pass the southern prefectures.' / Later he resided at Huguo in Taizhou, and showed his decease at Mushan.
