28.82

上曰。如何只有三句師對。意有待焉。二百年後無人下語。後大隋元靖長老舉前三句了。乃著語云。方水潭中鼈鼻蛇。又佛果圓悟禪師。亦於第三句下著語云。雲門胡餅趙州茶。臣於第三句下著語云。嚤呢噠哩吽㗶吒　上笑曰。甚好。又問。古今得受用者誰。師對　太宗皇帝。

His Majesty said, "Why are there only three lines?" The Master replied, "The intention awaited someone. For two hundred years, no one appended a phrase. Later, Elder Yuanjing of Dasui cited the first three lines and then appended the phrase: 'In the pool of Fangshui is a snub-nosed viper.' Chan Master Foguo Yuanwu also appended a phrase below the third line: 'Yunmen's sesame cake, Zhaozhou's tea.' I appended a phrase below the third line: 'Mani dali hūṃ phaṭ.'" His Majesty smiled and said, "Very good!" He further asked, "Throughout past and present, who has attained its experiential realization?" The Master replied, "Emperor Taizong."
