28.83

上曰。聞太宗皇帝得大受用。師對　太宗皇帝一日幸大相國寺。見僧看經次問云看甚經。僧云。仁王護國經　太宗皇帝云。既是朕經。為甚却在卿手裏。僧無語。臣亦曾代下一轉語。

His Majesty said, "I have heard that Emperor Taizong attained great experiential realization." The Master replied, "One day, Emperor Taizong visited the Great Xiangguo Monastery. Seeing a monk reading a sūtra, he asked, 'What sūtra are you reading?' The monk said, 'The Benevolent Kings Sūtra for Protecting the Country.' Emperor Taizong said, 'Since it is Our sūtra, why is it in your hands?' The monk had no words. I also once offered a turning word on his behalf."
