28.87

上曰。觀者是觀想。忘想顛倒相持何時得了。師對。以賊捉賊將心覓心。故楞嚴呵云。想念不可脫云何獲圓通。

His Majesty said, "As for contemplation, it is contemplative thought. When delusion and inverted views contend with each other, when will it ever end?" The Master replied, "Using a thief to catch a thief, employing the mind to seek the mind. Therefore, the Śūraṅgama reproaches, saying: 'If thought and mindfulness cannot be shed, how can one obtain perfect penetration?'"
