28.97

上曰。他如何問。師奏曰。前境若無心亦無。他到此生疑。却問如何。臣答云。未有尚書時喚什麼作境。心境俱空是箇什麼。渠默有契證。

His Majesty said, "How did he question it?" The Master memorialized, saying, "At the line 'If the objects before it are absent, the mind is also absent,' doubt arose in him, and he asked how it was. I replied, 'Before there was the Minister, what was called an object? When mind and objects are both empty, what is that?' He had a silent accord and realization."
