Chan Master Wan'an Zhirou of Yinjing in Taiping Prefecture was a son of the Chen family of Chaozhou. Ascending the hall, he cited Chan Master Tianyi Huai's case of 'the wild goose crossing the expansive sky, its shadow sinking in the cold water.' He then eulogized it: 'A solitary wild goose across the expansive sky brings a sound of autumn; / The Persian presenting jewels has a hook-like nose. / The wind rolls the white clouds back to another peak; / At dusk, the moon hangs upon the tips of the willow threads.'
