35.27

徑山淮海肇禪師。泰州人。贊達磨偈曰。踏翻地軸與天關。合國人追不再還。去去一身輕似葉。長江千古浪如山。

Chan Master Huaihai Zhao of Jingshan was a native of Taizhou. His gāthā in praise of Bodhidharma said: 'Treading over the earthly axle and the heavenly gate, / Pursued by the whole nation, he never returned. / Leaving and going, his single body was light as a leaf; / Across the Long River of a thousand ages, waves rise like mountains.'
