8.25

平江府定慧雲禪師。僧問。如何是為人一句。師曰。見之不取。曰學人未曉。師曰。思之千里。

Chan Master Yún of Dìnghuì in Píngjiāng Prefecture. A monk asked, "What is the phrase that acts for people's sake?"
The Master said, "Seeing it, one does not take it."
[The monk] said, "The student does not understand."
The Master said, "Thinking of it, a thousand miles away."
