8.24

泉州棲隱有評禪師。僧問。如何是平常道。師曰。和尚合掌道士擎拳。問十二時中如何趣向。師曰。著衣喫飯。曰別有事也無。師曰有。曰如何即是。師曰。齋餘更請一甌茶。

Chan Master Yǒupíng of Qīyǐn in Quánzhōu. A monk asked, "What is the ordinary Way?"
The Master said, "The upādhyāya joins his palms; the Daoist priest raises his fist."
[The monk] asked, "Throughout the twelve periods of the day, how should one direct oneself?"
The Master said, "Wear clothes and eat food."
[The monk] asked, "Is there anything else or not?"
The Master said, "There is."
[The monk] said, "What is it?"
The Master said, "After the meal, please have another bowl of tea."
