2.98

卿已出家永違二親。道法革性。俗服離身。辭親之日。乍悲乍欣。邈爾絕俗。超出埃塵。當修經道制已履真。如何無心更染俗因。經道已薄行無毛分。言非可貴。德非可珍。師友致累。恚恨日殷。如是出家損法辱身。思之念之。好自將身（續高僧傳法苑珠林）。

'You have already renounced household life, perpetually parting from both parents. The Dharma transforms your nature, and secular garments leave your body. On the day you took leave of your kin, sorrow and joy alternated. Far transcending the worldly realm, you stepped beyond the dust and dirt. You should cultivate the scriptural Way, restrain yourself, and tread upon the truth. Why then do you lack such an aim and become further tainted by worldly causes? With the scriptural Way already diminished and your practice lacking even a hair's breadth of merit, your words are not respectable and your virtue is not treasured. Bringing burden to your masters and friends, resentment grows deeper by the day. Renouncing household life like this harms the Dharma and disgraces your person. Ponder this! Reflect on this!
