'You have already renounced household life and are called a person of the Way: you do not pay homage to your parents, nor do you act as a minister to emperors; all under Heaven revere and serve you like a deity, bowing their heads in respect regardless of whether they are rich or poor. They esteem your pure cultivation, which benefits yourself and others. The gravity of their sacrifices is such that a single grain of rice weighs seven catties. Why then are you negligent and incapable of repaying kindness, indulging in frivolous wandering so that body and mind are troubled in vain? Eating offerings without precepts, you will enter Mount Tai upon death, swallowing burning iron as food and having molten copper poured down your throat. Suffering such as this is what the verses of the Dharma declare. Now I instruct and restrain you: you should renew yourselves.'
