吠舍釐國（中印度古云毘舍離也）周五十餘里。邪正兼半寺數百。現存五三僧少耳。天祠數十露形多之。城已頹毀故基周七十許里。宮城周五里許。少人居住。宮城西北六里。寺塔是說淨名處。

The kingdom of Vaiśālī (in Central India, anciently called Pisheli): It is more than fifty li in circuit. Heterodoxy and orthodoxy are each half of the whole. There were once hundreds of monasteries, but now only three to five remain, with few monks. There are several dozen deva temples, mostly belonging to the Nirgranthas. The city is already ruined; its old foundation is about seventy li in circuit. The palace precinct is about five li in circuit, with few inhabitants. Six li northwest of the palace city, a monastery and stūpa mark the site where the Vimalakīrti-nirdeśa was expounded.
