右陳世五主三十四年。寺有一千二百三十二。國家新寺一千七百。官造者六十八。郭內大寺三百餘。僧尼三萬二千人。譯經十一部。與地圖云。梁帝都下舊有七百餘寺。屬侯景作亂焚燒蕩盡。有陳既統國及下民備皆修葺。表塔相望星羅揭輦。經像之富不可殫言。

The above pertains to the Chen era of five rulers over 34 years: 1,232 monasteries, with 1,700 new state monasteries, 68 built by the government, over 300 large monasteries within the city walls, 32,000 monks and nuns, and 11 texts translated. A geographical treatise says: in the capital of the Liang emperor there were formerly over 700 monasteries; when Hou Jing staged his rebellion, they were burnt and razed completely; once the Chen unified the realm, the state and the populace fully repaired them. Spires and pagodas faced each other, arrayed like stars across the capital; the abundance of scriptures and images cannot be fully described.
