陛下所夢將必是乎。帝乃遣郎中蔡愔博士秦景等。從雪山南頭懸度道。入到天竺。圖其形像尋訪佛法。將沙門迦葉摩騰竺法蘭等還。尋舊路而屆雒陽。

Could what Your Majesty dreamt be him?' The emperor then dispatched the Gentleman of the Palace Cai Yin, the Erudite Qin Jing, and others to take the suspended-crossing path south of the Snow Mountains and enter Tianzhu, to depict his image and seek out the Buddha's Dharma. They returned with the śramaṇas Kāśyapa Mātaṅga, Dharmaratna, and others, retracing the old route to arrive at Luoyang.
