八謂。後秦弘始二年。沙門法顯。與同學慧景等。發自常安。歷于填道。凡經三十餘國。獨身達南海師子國。乃汎海將經。像還。至青州牢山。登晉地。往楊荊等州出經。所行出傳。

The eighth: In the second year of Hongshi of the Later Qin, the śramaṇa Faxian, together with his fellow student Huijing and others, departed from Chang'an, took the Khotan route, and passed through over thirty kingdoms in all. Alone, he reached Siṃhala in the Southern Sea, and then took a ship carrying scriptures and images back, arriving at Mount Lao in Qingzhou to step onto Jin soil. He went to Yang, Jing, and other prefectures to translate scriptures. What he traversed is recorded in a biography.
