2.89

十謂。宋永初六年。黃龍沙彌釋法勇操志雄遠。思慕聖迹招集同志。沙門僧猛曇朗等二十五人。發迹雍部西入雪山。乘索橋并傳弋度石壁。及至平地已喪十二人。餘伴相携進達罽賓南歷天竺。後汎海東還廣州。所行有傳。

The tenth: In the sixth year of Yongchu of the Song, the novice Shi Fayong of Huanglong had lofty and heroic aspirations. Yearning for the sacred traces, he gathered comrades, twenty-five men including the śramaṇas Sengmeng and Tanlang. Setting out from the Yong region, they entered the Snow Mountains to the west. Taking rope bridges and using suspended stakes, they crossed stone cliffs; by the time they reached flat ground, twelve men had already died. The remaining companions held one another and advanced, reaching Jibin and traveling south through Tianzhu. Later, taking a ship, he returned east to Guangzhou. What he traversed is recorded in a biography.
