The kingdom of Andhra (Southern India) is over 3,000 li in circuit. The capital is over 20 li in circuit. There are twenty monasteries with over 3,000 monks. There are over 3,000 deva temples, and non-Buddhists are extremely numerous. Beside the city is a great monastery with layered pavilions of rare craftsmanship; the Buddha statue is also extraordinary. In front is a stone stupa several hundred feet high; both were built by the arhat Ācāra (meaning 'conduct'). Over 20 li southwest near the monastery, on an isolated mountain peak, is a stone stupa: this is the place where Bodhisattva Dignāga composed the treatises on Hetuvidyā. There is another stupa to the southwest where the Buddha once preached the Dharma. Going south over 1,000 li through forests and wilderness from here, one reaches [the following kingdom].
