The so-called Eastern and Western Gu Mountains are not Mount Lu, yet their vegetation and open wilderness are delightful in their own right. Sudhana Hermitage's buildings are crisp and elevated; behind Laṅkā Hermitage there is flowing water. Entering the mountains from Nankang Military Prefecture and passing Laṅkā, there is nowhere that does not murmur with streams. In all, going one li west from the military prefecture out of Jianchang Gate, alongside the official road is Chengtian Cloister. The cloister rests against a high mound; atop it is Pine Peak Pavilion, now named Thatched Cottage. Passing this, one goes on to tour Kaixian. Going half a li north from the military prefecture out of Wulao Gate, one passes Wangyun Pavilion; five li further, one passes Shenghui Manor; another five li, one passes Luohan Cloister, and then one goes on to tour Qixian.
