Built by Prime Minister Wei Zhou of the Tang. Our present dynasty bestowed the plaque "Jingfu". The monastery borders the banks of the Xiang River, and below it is an ancient pool. The state casts golden dragons here into Wei Zhou's study. The monastery monks continually repair it without cease, making it a fine spot for travelers to climb and view. To the west is the Hetan Spirit Shrine; it is said that formerly Master Shitou sat in meditation here, and because the sound of the water was deafening, a spirit shouted at it to halt. Although it is far from the Sacred Peak, the events are worthy of record. During the Zhiping era, an administrative assistant surnamed Deng visited beautiful spots of springs and rocks on his leisure day, and thereby came to this monastery. Carrying a bamboo staff, he wished to climb to the mountain summit, when suddenly he smelled an extraordinary fragrance of flowers and trees. Raising his eyes to look, in the middle of the mountain there were lofty and low towers and pavilions, gold and green reflecting upon one another, with a plaque above reading: "Cave of the Perfected Person of Cihu." Just as Deng was astonished, he called the clerk Tan Ying to view it together; in an instant, its location was lost. The record says: "This is the southern gate of the Zhuling Grotto-Heaven."
