東陵聖母廟主女冠道士康紫霞自言。少時嘗夢中被人錄去一處言。天符令攝將軍巡南嶽。遂以金鎖甲令騎。導從千餘。人馬蹀蹀南云。須臾至嶽神拜馬前。夢中如有處分。嶽中峯巒溪谷無不歷也。恍惚而返。雞鳴驚覺。自是生鬚數十莖。

The Daoist priestess Kang Zixia, master of the Shrine of the Holy Mother of Dongling, said of herself that in her youth she was once recorded and taken away in a dream to a place where it was said: 'A heavenly talisman commands you to act as general and patrol Nanyue.' She was then given golden chain armor, ordered to mount a horse, and accompanied by an escort of over a thousand, the men and horses cantering south in rapid succession. In an instant they reached the mountain, and the god of the peak bowed before her horse; in the dream she seemed to issue orders, and of the peaks, ranges, streams, and valleys in the mountain, there was none she did not traverse. In a daze she returned; when the rooster crowed she awoke with a start, and from then on several dozen strands of beard grew on her face.
