今接真誥云。名山五嶽中學道者數百萬人。今年有得道昇天者。人名如別。年年月月皆有去者如此不可悉紀今為疏一年之得道人耳。有不樂上昇仙而長在五嶽名山者。亦不可稱數。或為仙官使掌名山者。亦復有數千。

Now examining the Zhengao, it says: 'Among the celebrated mountains and Five Sacred Peaks, those who study the Dao number several millions. This year those who attained the Dao and ascended to heaven have names recorded separately. Every year and every month there are those who depart like this, impossible to record completely; now I merely make a brief register of the persons who attained the Dao in one year.' Those who do not wish to ascend as immortals and forever remain in the Five Sacred Peaks and celebrated mountains are also beyond counting. Those who become immortal officials dispatched to oversee celebrated mountains also number several thousands.
