They even open the gate of destiny, embrace the infant of the true person, and frolic with dragons and tigers. Striking such poses, they intend to dispel disasters and scatter calamities. How could that be acceptable? How could that be acceptable? In the Han era, Lord Yi practiced this as the Dao; this head demon disordered custom and was banished to Dunhuang. Later, with Sun En, unruly licentiousness grew all the more severe: gentry men and women intermingled indiscriminately, no different from beasts. Indeed, the dust of sensual forms is easily defiled, and the knots of passion are hard to unravel. How much worse it is to intermingle qi in the cinnabar field and prolong life in the cavern of the immortals, recklessly dispatching troops past the forbidden Jade Gate, exhausting the postures of dragon and tiger in myriad grotesque antics! In life they lack the integrity of loyalty and chastity; in death they suffer the torments of the Green Court. It is our earnest prayer that the luminous sovereign examine this in his mirror, so that such folk and their companions may be upright and purified, and not betray the mandate of the unseen realms.
